About the Department
Krishnagar Women’s College, a glorious educational institution founded in the year 1958. In 1958 the Department of Economics started its journey with rather modest steps but gradually picked up pace and has achieved the status of one of the best Economics Department in the District. Modern teaching aids like LCD projector are used in honours classes. Quality improvement in teaching, particularly in honours, is not possible without research because research and teaching move hand in hand. The department is formulating a strategy to initiate a research project orientation for the economics honours students in current economic problems pursuing in theory and practical field in economics. The department takes pride in having a well stock of books and many journals etc. We also provide the scope of e-journals to all the departmental students. The teachers of our department pay meticulous attention towards the proper maintenance and smooth running of the department. Our Department has four sanctioned permanent teaching posts but currently the department is running with one full time permanent teacher. We arrange special classes for uplifting the slow learners. We arrange class test frequently for every year to internally asses the students by the department. We arrange guardian meetings and make interactive discussion with guardians for development of learning process of the students. We also arranged special talks by our ex-students who are established in relevant fields. Department publish Wall magazine every year and also arranged get together involving students of every years..
Several Students (Passed out) of the department are engaged as professionals in private sector like TCS and some are engaged in Govt. sector like bank, WB Govt. Services etc. Several students are selected in NET Examination and now they are pursuing M.Phil. , Ph.D.
