About the Department
रूपयौवनसम्पन्नाः विशालकुलसम्भवाः।
विद्याहीनाः न शोभन्ते निर्गन्धाः इव किंशुकाः।।
Welcome to the Department of Sanskrit at Krishnagar Women’s College. The Department has started its journey since the year 1958 and started functioning with effect from the academic session 1958-59. Initially the college obtained affiliation in Sanskrit to the B.A. Pass standard only and after a few years the Department got affiliation in Honours. There are so many great teachers who have served the Department frequently and taught the students to build up their future.Teachers like Bandana Some, PratimaBanarjee, Debika Roy Chowdhury, Anita Chakraborty, Soma Bandyopadhyay, Tanushree Ghosh, Ganga Das, SudiptaSaha, Piyali Ghosh, Tamasa, Reba, SoumitraAdhikari are served the Department very well and good since 1958. The Department has four full time faculty members- Mr. Aniruddha Bagchi(HOD), Miss. IndraniMondal, Miss. Dipali Shaw and Mr. BiswajitHalder.The Department has well decorated Departmental Seminar Library. So many books are there for helping students and teachers also. Approximate 1000 books are there to read. Students can take and read the books for fortnight. One digital learning classroom is there to teach. Department has organized various cultural activities (संस्कृतसप्ताहोद्यापनम्), spoken Sanskrit courses, writing and speaking skill development courses in Sanskrit language etc. Our beloved student ParnaBhoumick ranked 2nd in the session 2016-19 and make the department and college proud. In the Department of Sanskrit the relation between students and teachers is very friendly.
