About the Department

Introduction

The Department of Physics was established in the year 1958 with the establishment of our College. From the Academic Session 2023-24, Physics Major has been introduced in the Department. Besides this Physics Programme Course, along with Physics Generic Elective Course is taught here. Since 2018 Semesterised U.G. Choice Based Credit System is offered here. Students from all over the Nadia District along with its nearby Districts come here for their study.

The number of full-time teaching posts in the Department is three and at present all the posts are filled in. All the teaching staffs and the non-teaching staff of the Department are very cooperative. Research and publications of the faculty members are shown in their personal profiles..

Infrastructure of the Department

Observation of National Science Day

Every year national Science Day is observed by the Department very gorgeously. Students and Teachers from other Institutions are also invited to join the ceremony..

Visiting Lectures organized by the Department

Though at present there is no visiting faculty, the department arranges visiting lectures for the students by Eminent Speakers from various Institutions..

Teaching Methods Adopted to Improve Student Learning

  1. Lecture Method, Lecture cum demonstration method, Experimentation method using laboratories. Hands-on activity, Computer programming using FORTRAN, Gnuplot, SCILAB, MATLAB, etc. Innovative teaching methods using presentations, videos using overhead projectors, and virtual laboratories from the web resources available.
  2. Digital classes on Skype, Zoom, Google Classroom, WebEx, and google meet platforms from home since April 2020, due to the Pandemic situation.
  3. The department frequently conducts special lectures, class tests for the students of the department and the remedial classes required.
