About the Department
‘The Department of History is one of the oldest departments at the college, launching its journey with a General subject in 1958 and obtaining approval to introduce History as an Honours subject in 2003. The department aims to equip and empower students with relevant knowledge, competence, and creativity to face global challenges. It places special emphasis on regular assessment of student progress, encouraging them to present short seminar papers and participate in group discussions. Students are also encouraged to attend various national and international seminars, webinars, debates, and quiz competitions. Special lectures, departmental seminars, educational tours, and various educational and cultural activities are regularly arranged. Every year, the department publishes its own Wall Magazine, 'Prathama'. Many students from this department are placed in various fields across the country.
